There are just some dishes that compliment one another so well, when it comes to pizza I always think of wings. I love curling up on the couch usually on a Friday or Saturday night with a great movie playing on the television and some wings. We don’t get to do this too often but when we do it is a very special treat!
There are so many flavors these days and they are easy to make. You can find fresh chicken wings at your local butcher or at Walmart and they are pretty inexpensive. I make mine two different ways. I either fry them in peanut oil but if you have an allergy to peanuts vegetable oil will work as well.
Another way that I have been making them lately is simply putting the wings without sauce on a cookie sheet and baking them uncovered till they are done and nice and crispy.
Here are a few recipes for sauces that I have tried over the years and directions. Hope you find them enjoyable!
Buffalo Wing Sauces I usually get 2 dozen fresh wings:
Hot Sauce: Mix 1/2 cup melted butter with 1/2 cup of Texas Pete hot sauce
Sweet Barbeque Sauce: just simple Sweet Baby Rays Original BBQ Sauce
Sweet, Tangy and a little Heat Sauce: Mix 1/2 cup of melted butter 2 tablespoons of San -J Gluten Free Szechuan hot and spicy marinade ( I found this at Weis), 4 tablespoons San-J Sweet and Tangy sauce (I found this at Weis) for extra sweetness add 1 teaspoon of honey
Garlic Parmesan Sauce: Mix 1/2 cup butter 1 teaspoon Garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper, 1/2-3/4 cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Line baking pan with foil and place fresh wings on pan bake at 400 F for 45 minutes turn half way through, at the end broil for a few minutes to crisp up the wings or if you desire the fried method use a deep pot fill 1/2 way with peanut oil heat and add fresh wings fry till chicken is cooked through about 10-12 minutes.
Either method remove wings and allow to cool slightly then add to desired sauce toss around to coat evenly serve immediately.
